19. We have talked with other companies that develop Preventing Sexual Harassment training using fancy streaming video with flashy effects.  How are your training programs designed and why?

Yes, today more than ever before, there is new technology that makes training like watching television.  We at New Media Learning have evaluated using fancy streaming video and flashy graphics.

However, this type of training is “Not” effective for learning certain types of information like Preventing Sexual Harassment and Preventing Employee Discrimination.

Using streaming video and flashy effects impacts two learning methods: Passive vs. Active Learning.  Passive Learning requires a student to watch a television program (With flashy effects and streaming videos) and then take a test.

In contrast, Active Learning (Used by New Media Learning and as you will see below, The U.S. Department of Labor) requires the student to participate in the entire training process, to learn the information, which will protect your company.  Active learning is the standard for this type of training.

CASE STUDY:  The U.S. Department of Labor has selected New Media Learning for their Preventing Sexual Harassment training. When the Department of Labor evaluated vendors they investigated Passive vs. Active Learning.

The U.S. Department of Labor selected New Media Learning as their vendor of choice.  They selected New Media Learning for several reasons, including:   Our Active Learning process, course content, degree of customization, our outstanding reporting capabilities and many other valuable reasons.

Like you, The U.S. Department of Labor interviewed and evaluated multiple vendors and a variety of training methods.  In the end, they selected New Media Learning as their training partner to protect their employees and organization using our Preventing Sexual Harassment training program.

Please visit our Product Demonstration Library and see for yourself why The U.S. Department of Labor chose New Media Learning.  We feature their training website in a 15 minute product demonstration on Active Learning.   Back to FAQ

20. Many of our employees that work in the field may not have regular access to computers.  Would you still recommend taking advantage of your on-line Preventing Sexual Harassment training program?

In companies with employees that work in the field they normally have quarterly or annual meetings to review topics including your Sexual Harassment policy.  Unfortunately, the liability for training in this manner is significantly increasing.

When employees attend Sexual Harassment seminars there is no record of their comprehension of this important topic.  As a result, you have no formal documentation that the employee understands the information that is presented.

New Media Learning works with numerous employers that previously offered the occasional quarterly or annual review of their Sexual Harassment policy.

However, in most cases, these employers experienced an event of alleged Sexual Harassment in their work-place. Unfortunately, many companies contact us after they have realized how vulnerable they were to this informal training style.  We have developed practical solutions to handling workers that do not have regular access to computers.
