Message from President Todd

To Members of the University:

Dr. Lee T. Todd, Jr., President

The University of Kentucky policy prohibiting sexual harassment was adopted into the Governing Regulations in 1983. In 1984 the original Administrative Regulation was drafted, with two (2) updated policy revisions to date. Regulation changes are required to ensure the University policy and procedures provide the most effective means to handle complaints of sexual harassment and more importantly, to prevent future occurrence.

Sexual harassment, a form of sex discrimination, creates an atmosphere that is harmful to our academic mission. It interferes with University employees performing their duties to the best of their abilities. Sexual harassment creates an environment of disrespect and insensitivity.

This online tool provides information every member of the University community should read and understand. It defines sexual harassment in accordance to the law and University policy, illustrates impermissible conduct, and offers procedures for seeking help.

The University of Kentucky will absolutely not tolerate sexual harassment of any student, faculty, staff or visitor. Our community must address allegations as they occur without delay. Everyone is responsible for elimination of sexual harassment from the University community.

Sincerely,
Dr. Lee T. Todd, Jr., President
