company history
New Media Learning was established in 1997 by Wendell Laidley in response to two fundamental forces affecting the workforce.
First, sexual harassment cases were growing in prevalence. While many organizations had dealt with sexual harassment by working with legal counsel to develop anti-harassment policies, relatively little educational material was available for workers and employers on this sensitive subject. And enterprise-wide education was - and still is - key to recognizing, responding to, and preventing sexual harassment.
The second factor was the advent of web-based applications, which made possible interactive, online training that could be conducted from any location, at anytime.
New Media Learning developed a new approach to training that addressed the profound need for a better understanding of sexual harassment issues, while taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the rapid acceptance of the Internet.
Its flagship product, Preventing Sexual Harassment, was introduced in 1998, and has since been selected by hundreds of businesses, educational institutions, and governmental organizations.
Over time, New Media Learning has expanded its expertise in online training programs to develop custom training applications for many leading organizations, as well as a new program focused on Preventing Employment Discrimination.
Today, New Media Learning is committed to developing easily deployed, easy to understand, and effective e-learning materials that address important issues in the workplace.
